Overview:
Based in Boca Raton Florida, Host Gator has been around since 2002. They offer 4 shared hosting plans and 4 dedicated hosting plans.
Customer Support:
We've tested Host Gator's phone support and live chat. Both appear to respond quickly.
Account Management/Control Panel:
Host Gator uses cPanel, perhaps the most popular web hosting control panel around today. cPanel provides access to support, e-mail & FTP account management, usage statistic information, database creation and management, server configuration settings, amongst others. You can see a screenshot below.
Data Center:
Host Gator outsources it's data center to a company called "The Planet". The Planet is located in Dallas, Texas. While this frees up time for their customer support, this can be frustrating if there is a hardware or network problem because you will be working with Host Gator support, who will have no control over the problem.

Summary:
Although Host Gator does offer some impressive plans at higher price levels, we feel there are better options available for a basic plan price range. |
